Wikimedia CH, in cooperation with the University Library Zurich, presents the public workshop "Wikipedia - gewusst wie. Die Online-Enzyklopädie bewusst nutzen" on September 29th 2008, 6pm. Further information in German (pdf)

The University Library Zurich has joined Wikimedia CH as supporting member. Further, they announced that from now on, their staff will contribute to Wikipedia articles on famous persons from Zurich, especially if the (literary) estate of that person is held by the library. We look forward to a continuous cooperation with the University Library Zurich and refer also to their press release

For "informatica08" / "The year of information technology", Wikimedia CH created a project together with /ch/open that will motivate celebrities to contribute Open Content to Wikipedia.

The Wikimedia CH board met on December 15th 2007. The most important decision are as follows:

• Wikimedia CH gave a "christmas donation" to the Wikimedia Foundation amounting to CHF 5000. Further donations to the Foundation are planned in the 2008 budget.
• Robin Schwab replaces Rupert Thurner as treasurer (ad interim) until the next General Assembly
• The regular General Assembly 2008 will take place on March 15, 14.00 in Lausanne
• The Wikimedia CH will go into conclave in 2008 and deliberate on a strategy for the association

This year the german-speaking Wikipedia Day takes place at September 29th at the hall of Pädagogischen Hochschule at Berne.

Well-known and top-class speakers will talk to us like Delphine Ménard of Wikimedia Foundation, Marco Jorio, editor-in-chief of the Historical Encyclopedia of Switzerland and other exciting guests.

This event addresses mainly teachers, scientists, library and archive personell. We would like to attract qualified authors for Wikipedia and its sister projects and promote the use of free content to a wider public.

Lawrence Lessig, famous for the Creative Commons licence to tag intellectual property with free access, wants to do more agains corruption in future. That, because he thinks that intelligent solutions are not enforceable because of interess conflicts.

The general assembly 2007, which is also open for guests, will take place on the 24th June 2007 at 14 o'clock in Lucerne.
